NO! I'm not talking about the rumors about an Apple™ branded cell-phone...

I'm talking about the rumors of Apple releasing iPhone software and a hardware converter. I read rumors of Apple developing a small box that one end receives the phone line and another connects to the Mac via FireWire and allows the software to do all-sorts of Telephony features such as headset calls, address book dialing, caller ID, faxing, answering machine, voicemail, etc...

I haven't seen any of the rumor sites talking about this one. It IS quite possible that the info that I read was false... but I was (and still am) hoping that it is NOT false and that we WILL have Apple-based telephony very soon.

Peace...

No offense... but if it's "Soooo 1980's...", then why can't I do ANY of that on my Mac running OSX...? (I do run FaxSft but it kinda sucks)

This should be rudimentary stuff by now. I was capable of doing fax, voicemail and speed dialing on my IIvx back in '94. Why can't I do it now on OSX...?
