I was interested in using my 22 inch Cinema Display as a HDTV. I know the resolution is better than many of the HDTVs available now. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Yes, but you'll need 2 things.

a dvi to adc connector (if you have an ADC cinema display) which is about $150

and an HDTV tuner with DVI output (about $500).

So it's possible, but it aint cheap

Well, I have the DVI to ADC because I use the display with my PowerBook. But $500.00 for a tuner... Wow! I may just have to save up and get a plasma.

Thanks,

Most of them have tuners built-in these days I think, but the cheaper ones don't do HDTV.

to my knowledge most of the expensive ones DON'T, yet.

A while back I was looking at a panasonic 42", just out of curio. Turned out it was 4k and didn't

So meh.

I want the cheap gateway one. After all, I don't watch tv THAT MUCH!

apparently that is ture- plasma tvs do not have a very long life. most in the industry say that plasma will be replaced with lcd technology over the next few years; this works out better as lcd is cheaper, more durable and can have a larger screen size.

regarding the beginning of the thread... for hd you need a tuner unless one is built in. i am not aware of any plasma/lcd tv that has a built in (that doesn't mean it doesn't exist though). it is easy to find a projection with one. wait a bit and you can likely get one free with your direct tv tuner (if you like satellite).

btw, are you certain that the acd can take an hd signal? i don't think it can. it may allow a high resolution, but it also has to be able to process the signal (hence the 23" being called an hd display, and the other called a cinema display.)
