I am probably buying a T68i tomorrow, and would like to sync it with my address book. Since my area has 11-digit dialing (i have to dial 1, then the area code, then the phone number) for ALL calls, when adding phone numbers into the address book to I type (area code)-(phone)-(number) or do I put a 1- in front of all that, or is my syntax way off?
Basically, how do I format the numbers so that when I select that person from the phone book on the T68i it will be able to call them automatically.

You need to store the numbers is whatever format is needed to dial on your mobile phone.
I live in the UK so don't know about US phones. I store the numbers with the international dialing codes as I use my phone abroad. I know that this way my phone will work whereever I am.

If you get the T68i from Amazon, it is -$25. (You get $25 and the phone after rebate.)

The local T-Mobile outlet is going to match the deal and give it to me for free (or for $25 if I get the cheaper plan).
So should I be putting hyphens between the sections of the phone number ie 1-555-555-5555 or just do 15555555555?

a qustion on the syncing process...
is it a two way choice ie: can i choose to enter my phone numbers into my mac rather than the other way round (and wiping all the numbers), which seems to be all the apple site mentions?

When you initially sync you can choose to merge the data on the device and the AddressBook or overwrite the data on the device.
I choose to enter everything into the Mac AddressBook and overwrite the T68i.
It was *much* easier to enter the info using the keyboard than the number pad on the phone

true about the typing speed issue but when you've got 50+ numbers in the little bugger already...

So can anyone give a definitive answer as to the syntax to use when typing the #s into address book?

I have messages stored in the following formats in my address book:
(XXXXX) XXXXXX
(XXXX) XXX-XXX
XXXX XXXXXX
+XX XXXX XXXXXX
When being downloaded to the phone only the numbers and + symbols are preserved. Everything else is filtered out. I don't know whether this is done by iSync or the T68i either way you should be able to enter the numbers in which ever format you are most comfortable with.

You can always use the Phonebook->Advanced->Send All option on the T68i to dump the phone contents into a single vCard file on your computer before the first sync. That way you've got a backup you can revert to.

Great, I'll continue with my 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX formatting then. My T68i just shipped this morning, I can't wait to get it!
