My main G3 computer is hooked up to a Linksys wireless router.

I have an ibook with an airport card, I'd like for my ibook to be able to send print requests.

The OS X help is skimpy though. This is what I've done so far:

1. Turn on "printer sharing" under the G3's system prefs under "sharing"
2. Turned on AppleTalk on both the ibook and the G3.

What else do I need to do? I went to "Print Center" and tried to get the ibook to see the Epson 880 printer connected to my g3 but to no avail.

Please help if you know. Thanks.
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle!

You don't need Appletalk and it should work the way you set it up. Make sure the built in firewalls are not on though.

On the iBook go to the Print Centre and choose add.

Also, make sure the G3 is on.

Make sure that "Show printers connected to other computers" is checked in Print Center preferences.

^ That simple? Hmm...I'll try it out when I get home.

Right now, whenever you have print center open and you try to pick "add printer", the add button is grayed out and unavailable.

Go to Sys Prefs > Sharing > Firewall. Make sure Printer sharing is checked if firewall is active.

Sometimes you have to check then unchek and check again the "Show printers connected to other computers" option! Don't ask me why - it must be a feature!

I haven't tried the firewall thing, I'll check that option out and see if that is checked as well.

anyhow...yes, under print center prefs, "show connected printers" was checked off, but I still couldn't connect to the printer using my ibook.
