Looks like I'm going to be getting the new "little" PB with the Extreme Airport card. Just wondering if it will work with the old Airport Basestation?

The new airport extreme is backwards compatible, so it should work with your old basestation!

Go for it...!

It will work. This is the primary advantage of 802.11g (Airport Extreme) over 802.11a.

Obviously you'll only get 802.11b performance though and will need to buy a new 12" or 17" PowerBook.

This is my thing, Apple did not supply a means to get my QS or iBook to take advantage of Airport Extreme's 54Mbps. I wonder if it is possible, perhaps a third party will make an AP card for older products.

According to a segment on "the screensavers" on techtv today -- it looks like there will be some third party solution. Check out their web site for more details.
