Header says it all. But an additional question to those who have an ipod, I was at the store looking at them but I wasnt impressed on the loudness (volume) of it. This could have been because of poor encoding (96kbs) or is this a problem with your 'pods too?

Yeah... I want an iPod too, but there are too many rumors flying around about updated and lower costing ones... any ideas?

my ipod gets very loud.

In fact sometimes at night I put the earbuds on my nightstand and put the volume up most or all of the way, and can almost hear it across the room.

But the bass sucks from far away. lol.

Meh, I got mine about 3 months ago now, so you may want to wait, just think about if it's justifiable now.

I've had an iPod for some time, and I absolutely love it. I use the mountable hard drive feature often to bring files to/from work, I use it to have my entire music library anywhere I go, and I go jogging with it 4x a week.

Apple did a solid job with the iPod -- I don't think you'll be disappointed by buying one now. Even if a new model comes out, so what? There will always be new models, that doesn't take away from the current ones being great.

You want one? Buy one. There have been rumors for months about supposed changes to the iPod. If you want one now, get one now, you won't regret it.

As for loudness, it must've been the encoding. The iPod can get very loud pumped through the earbuds or a stereo...

Yes get one now. YOu never know when and if those rumors will come true. If you want it get it. You WILL love it. I didn't think I would love mine as much as I do.
