I have an iMac running OS 9.x. So does my family overseas. They got a Logitech webcam, and using Yahoo instant messenger, I was able to see them. However, IM doesn't support sound for Macs, apparently.

Does anyone know if there's other (cheap/free) software we can use to communicate? Also, I'm thinking about a getting a webcam too but didn't see any Mac-friendly ones offhand. Any recommendations?

Obviously the end result we'd like is to be able to both see and hear each other, but not sure if that's possible!

Thanks for any assistance.

The only camera I know which is Mac-friendly is iBoot made by MicroOrange. It's Fire Wire cam.

I'm using a Logitech USB webcam with drivers from IOXperts.com; check their site for a list of what cameras they support.

For cross-platform conferencing, you could look at iSpQ

Phillips ToUCam Pro, quality is excellent and also has a built in Mic, they supply an OS9 driver but you need the excellent IOXperts driver under X.
