OK, I have a six month old ipod (10 gig) and yesterday it just stopped. The screen is blank, nothing is working. It was kept in a padded case, never dropped or mistreated.

Now its only six months old, but the warrenty is only 90 days, what are my options. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

I'm not sure what you mean. I have attempted to plug it into my ibook and it does not recognize the ipod so I can't manipulate it at all. Is there a different way to reset the ipod?

Apple has a forum devoted to the iPod. Do a search there and you'll find your answer. I'd tell you myself, but I don't own an iPod Not yet, anyway.

Also, I thought iPod's have a one-year warranty. If the reset thing doesn't work, I would just call Apple and tell them your problem. Act as if you thought it had a one-year warranty. You might get lucky.

Here, I found this in Apple's iPod forum:

RE: YIKES! my ipod died!(?)!
(msg # 1.: Posted Jan 19, 03 2:24 pm)

try holding down menu+play for 10-20 seconds, this may reset it

you say it is about a year old...

if it is still less than a year old call apple and get it fixed before your warranty expires, i've now had two ipods replaced under warrranty due to battery problems

if it is over a year try calling apple anyway: if the problem started after less than a year then say so, be polite but firm, and maybe they'll replace it for you

actually your ipod should have had its warranty extended to 1 year. the current warranty period on new ipods are 1 year, and i know that apple had automatically extended the warranty for older units. so try calling applecare and see if they will fix/replace it for free before doing anything to it.

Thanks for the help, I tried resetting it but no luck... I guess I'm going to send it back to apple then.

Burn, I couldn't open the link you provided.

Go to this page

http://www.info.apple.com/

Enter 60950 in the Search Support field and hit Go.

A couple links will be found - select the one that says iPod Not recognized in iTunes or Finder

Am I allowed to post an AppleCare Knowledge Base article here?

are you sure its charging, i know someone else who thought it was dead - it turned out that just the firewire cable was knackered - so nothing could see it and the screen wouldnt work as it couldnt recharge.

Please think... what has happened since the last time it was working. Could the pins inside the iPod be stuck or something? 9I read something about it @ iPoding.com)
iMac G5 2.0 Ghz 20", 2 GB RAM, 400 GB, OS X 10.4.5, iPod with color screen 60 GB
