Has anyone had experiences with the Samsung 172T, formac gallery1740ox, hitachi cml174, or an equivalent viewsonic? I'm looking at one of those, and am split on which one to get.

Also, would it look crappy if, instead of an ADC or DVI cable, you hooked the thing up to, say, a PB or iBook's video out?

172T thread.

It has no ADC. You'll need DVI, or an ADC to DVI converter. It also has VGA.

VGA is very good, but noticeably inferior to DVI obviously.

This Hitachi seems like the best LCD to buy if you're into watching/editing video or playing games - it's got a TRUE 16ms response time and it's super bright. Very nice indeed.

Actually, the Iiyama panel has less ghosting than the Hitachi panel.

This is an AMAZING lcd. WOW.

I can't belive how crisp it is. And the silver case matches very well with a powermac. I connected two of them to a powermac with DrBotts DVI extractor.

I have connceted a dell lcd to the VGA port of an older mac once, the image is not as great as connecting it directly to the DVI or ADC, but its acceptable.
