I rec'd a Sharp digital camera model #VE-CG4OU. Great camera. USB. But system requirements are for a Windows based computer. I checked on the Sharp web site for any mac drivers but did not see anything. I have also e-mailed their tech support but have not heard back yet. Any hope of being able to use this in iPhoto. I have an iBook running 10.2.2.
Thanks

Current iPhoto compatibilty chart:

With all the great camera options available out there to choose from, it doesn't seem wise to support a company that isn't interested in the Mac market. Take a look at the Canons. Very nice cameras.

Actually there are more iPhoto compatible digital cameras. I have a non listed Casio QV 4000. Very good camera and the tag price was a bargain. It works without any problem with iPhoto under Jaguar. It also includes Mac OS 9 software.

When I purchased my Fuji digicam a while back, it wasn't listed in Apple's compatibility chart (although other Fuji models were). Luckily, when I plugged in the USB port, iPhoto immediately loaded without problems. Whew! However, I would ask around some more and definitely check with Sharp to see if there is some kind of compatibility. Sometimes, stores allow you to return digital devices even after using them for 30 days if they are not to your satisfaction (of course as long as you don't break it).

Apparently Samsung's cameras are Image Capture and iPhoto compatible although not mentioned by Apple or openly supported by Apple:

If Samsung's are iPhoto compatible despite not being recognized by Apple, maybe Sharp cameras are or will be. Are Sharp cameras a new occurrence or have they been around for a while? Perhaps if Sharp digicams aren't currently iPhoto compatible, it's only a matter of time before they are made so and addressed by Apple. Sorry about all the posts.

I agree. I always support and buy from companies that support Mac. But this camera was given to me. A client gave it to a friend. My friiend already has several so he gave it to me. Brand new, unopened in the box! How could I not try to get it to work! I replaced the USB cable...Plug and Play! It works great!.
