Hi!
I'd like to ask your help to setting up the network in my house.

I have a cable network plugged into a Linksys router. One port goes to a PC and the other is plugged into an iMac, both are in my living room. The third port in the router is occupied by an Airport Base Station (graphite). I also have a MDD PowerMac in my basement office with an airport card. They are all working fine.

The question is that I want to control the iMac from my PMac in my room. As you know, my PMac is in 10.0.1.x net and the iMac is in 192.18.1.x net, so they cannot see each other, but I'm sure there must be a way to make it work. I heard I can set my router so that one of the port can be opened, but I'm not sure how to do it. Is it something called "IP forwarding" in "Advanced" tab?

I'm considering to use either Apple Remote Desktop Server/Client or Timbuktu. Any pros and cons?

I really appreciate for the detail, step by step instruction if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Why are your two machines on two IP settings? Couldn't you set the ABS to not distribute IP address and have the Linksys pass one through the ABS? That way, both are on the same subnet, etc and should be seen from your Mac upstairs...

And you should post in the Networking forum...you'll get more help there.

Hi, Q!

I really didn't know that I could set up the network this way. It really solved my problem!

And, sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I didn't know there is the Network forum, either!

Thanks a lot!
