Since recently getting an airport card and wireless router, I've been thinking about what other wires can be eliminated. Mainly this is so I can move my computer away from my stereo/TV. Does anyone have any news regarding the rumored Phillips set top box that would allow streaming audio/video over a wireless connection?
I'm mainly interested in streaming from iTunes to the stereo, but if I was to get a seperate stereo component, it would be nice if it would allow streaming of video as well, from the DVD Player, QT player, etc...
Does anyone think I will be able to get something like this before summer?

I've heard of someone with an XBox (yeah i know, microshaft) that did it and also was able to stream their mpeg movies!
I don't recall where I read it, but you could search these forums for xbox and see what comes up.

A company showed off a system to transmit your iTunes library over Airport to the device (which plugs into your stereo) at MWSF last month. I just can't remember the name or who made it right now , but maybe a quick search will turn something up?

Well, I found this today, although it doesn't look like it will support Rendezvous in its first incarnation. Also, $500 is a bit steep for something that should be as simple to build as a DVD player which sells for $100 + an airport card.
Any word on the Sony/HP offerings mentioned in the article?

I think the company SupahCoolX is thinking about is TiVo. During the Macworld SF/Comdex timeframe, they announced the new version of their TiVO software will support Rendezvous and allow for streaming music via your network to the TiVO box.
Here's the FAQ.
Here's the press release.

I did read about the TIVO box, although AFAIK that requires a monthly fee to use. I may end up doing that anyway as it definitely has many other benefits as well.

if you have a PS2 with a network adapter hooked up to your network you can use the QCast tuner to play your music/videos/slideshows on your PS2 from the computer. works with PC, OSX, and Linux, according to the site. also, its only $50.

No monthly fee, but there is a $99 "set up charge". Right. Let me guess: I'm paying to download the software and that's it...
