I know 10.2 should read FAT 32 out of the box...but its always a dicey proposition..half the time it works, half the time it won't.

I have 10.1.5 at home and it suddenly stopped recognizing my firewire drive altogether.

Anyway, I go back and forth between Macs and PCs constantly and need something more reliable. Know of any OS X equivalents of MacDrive. Something that will allow me to read FAT 32 all of the time?

-thanks

My best guess is that there's isn't anything that reads PC formatted disks on the Mac, simply because the Mac OS is supposed to. Hopefully I am wrong though.
Do the computers that need to access this drive on a network together? If the Macs have 10.2 Jaguar installed, you could transfer the files through the network. It won't be as fast if you have fast Ethernet (100 Mb), but if it's 10 Mb, it's gonna be a dog.
Have you thought about formatting the drive as HFS+ and then using Macdrive or an equivalent on the PCs?

How about MacDrive for OS X?

Anyways, I've finally switched to MacDrive since using FAT32 had too many issues.

Say what? I've never heard of it and there is no mention of thier website.
I can't install MacDrive on the windows machines because they are the property of my graduate school and require admin access.
