I want to print mostly web pages and pdf files.
Double Sided printing is required. Photo printing is not really important.
Im looking for a Printer with great OSX support. The printer should be reliable, fast, quiet and have good ink milage. I'd prefer this Printer to have Ethernet for use on a network of Mac's an 1 Peacee.
I really don't know anything about printers or prices. I guess i'd be prepared to spend up to $ 350.
Recommendations to match my criteria pls.
Cheers Inadvance

I recommend that you buy either the HP 6122 ($200) or the 6127 ($250). Both printers come with a duplexer and ink cartridges. They both use the large capacity black cartridge (950 pages) and both come with a regular sized color cartridge (450 pages). You can replace the color cartridge with large capacity color (900 pages). The 6127 also has an ethernet connection for network use. I would recommend that you print in draft mode unless you have a need to use more ink.

I just checked out the latest of HP's printers and the 6127 looks great! if I were in the market, I'd get that. Currently, I have an HP 970 CXi and I think it was the first to have the automatic two sided printer module. It works great! I've had this Printer for a little over 2 years now. The printer shared via USB printer sharing over my airport network. if you're looking to get something new, the 6127 looks to be a good choice. I'd do a google search on deskjet 6127 first though to get more reviews as you can't judge a book by it's cover!

I think the HP950 was the 1st to include the duplex module free instead of having to buy it as an option. I've got the HP930c, bought right after it was released. The HP930 was HP's 1st 2400dpi printer, and the 1st to support the 2-sided print module. I've had it about 3 years now. I had to buy the duplex option separately - $79 back then. It's worked perfectly from OS9.04 on my 1st Mac (iMacDV) right on up to Jag on my Cube.
Photo quality is still excellent on my HP930 and I'm not really in the market for a new printer. But I'd like to see Canon come up with something similar to HP's duplex option. I like Canon's individual ink system, although HP's front i/o trays are hard to beat.....joe

For some reason the HP 6127 is not a model currently shipping in Australia. Not sure if it is a US only product.
Anyways, im still looking for suggestions for a Fast, quiet, printer with Double sided capabilities and an Ethernet connection.
Additional suggestions required please?

You can use the 6122 on ethernet. You just need to purchase an external ethernet print server. Cost should be between $50 to $200.
Can you order the 6127 directly from HP?

In the USA? Probably yes. The 6127 doesnt list on the AUS HP site tho.
How about the print carts tho. If the product isnt sold in AUS will the ink carts be sold here?
Cheers

The 6122 and 6127 both use the black 45a and color 78. Both should be available in AUS.
