I'd hate to get one that wasn't perfect... Do refurbs have same # of dead pixel tolerance, etc?

Actually it's not a bad idea, I was in an Apple Store at The Grove in Los Angeles, the salesperson told me they had a few refurbished 20" Cinema displays.

When I asked about the pixel issue he offered to take them out of the box and plug it in so I could see if there were any, he said they can do this with refurbished displays but not with unopened box displays.

So you can see if there are any bad pixels and save about 13% also, I believe I was quoted $1149 as the price for the refurbished 20"isplay.

That's great if you can check it out inperson, but not from mail-order. So generally I shouldn't worry about (factory) refurb CD's?

coolmac,
thanks for the heads up on the refurb cinema displays at the Grove. I just bought one on my lunch hour and now I can't wait to get it home! You were correct on the price and the Apple sales staff was really nice- plugged it into a MDD and helped me check for dead pixels before I made my purchase. Fortunately, none in the one I picked up (they still have 2 more). This worked out great bec I went to Fry's 4 days ago to buy a Cinema display but the two they opened up for me both had dead pixels. Fry's doesn't seem to mind opening up new products. Anyway, now I do not have to gamble w/ an on-line order and I saved a few bucks. i love these forums. thanks again.
