So I am in the process of ripping ALL of the CD's I own. So far I am on 66 CD's and have exceeded the capacity of a 5GB iPod. I have about 10 percent of my collection ripped.

I am planning on buying an iPod soon (after the new models are released in the next week or so).

So what would happen if I had 21gb of Music in iTunes and only a 20gb iPod? Where does it cut off? Is it alphabetical, is it cut off by burn date?

What will happen? Am I forced to buy or wait for a 40gb iPod?

Any and all help or experience with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

In my experience, it will not begin the transfer unless there is enough space free on the iPod. Granted, I tried this last March when I first got mine. You would need to deselect the songs/playlists that you did not want transferred until you had enough space on the iPod

Do you have inside info on new iPods?
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

when i fist got my 5 gig i had 6 gigs on my mac, i poped up and said that there wasn't enough room so i either had to select playlists, or manualy update my ipod.

right now i have it selected to update on my playlists, i have one playlist that is about 4.5 gigs big that i can add or delete songs and that will do it on the ipod, a sort of music partion that i can update

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

It'll say "there's not enough room on the iPod for automatic updating, you must manually update." IMO manual is nicer anyway -- I've created some auto playlists (rated my 10,000 songs) and I copy them over. I almost always play my iPod on random (riding my bike, I can't see it), and I don't like all 10,000 songs I have so I wouldn't want them all on there ;-)

There's a clip I have on my iDisk, somewhere (my mac's not working at the moment > and this guy is saying "I've got a 20 GB, he's got a 40 GB" and he's holding up his iPod.

Eh? Eh?

It was from the Osbournes DVD, by the way.
