Since I plan on purchasing an iPod in the next couple weeks. Does anyone know Apple offers some sort of warranty or insurance on this? Similar to the 4 year extended computer warranty I have on my iMac?
Thanks in advance.

Like every apple product, they offer only 1 year warranty. You can't buy applecare for ipod. But the ipod service is very good. If you have problem with your ipod, they send you a box to send it back, and you will get a new unit or a new "refurbish unit".
If you want to have a piece of mind, go to compUSA or best buy where they offer their store extended warranty.

Apple doesn't have an extended iPod warranty, but some retailers do. I bought my iPod at The Wiz here in NY, and got an extra 2 years for $30 or $40.

Yeah, but I got my iPod last summer, when they were still alive and kicking (sorta). There's still a few locations open here and there, though, like the one in Union Square.

Compusa also sells extended warranties. They'll sell them reguardless of where you bought yours.
