I'm really looking forward to getting one of these Yamaha internal CDRW drives for my dual gig MDD. They are supposed to be a pretty good drive. And official Mac support is really nice.

Does anyone know when they are supposed to ship? Has anyone read any pre-release reviews for this Mac specific CDR-F1?

On a related note, has anyone tried using the Superdrive as slave in the lower slot with another drive on top? In iDVD?

Well, Yamahao just announced that they are now out of the CD-RW business. They said it was too competitive, and most people agreed that while their disc writing technology was cool, it was kind of useless.

So now that they don't make em anymore you might be able to find them for really cheap, or really expensive.

And try www.xlr8yourmac.com to see if the drive works.

I realize they won't be selling CDRW any more, but they will still support curent drives.

The disc "tattoo" is kinda gimicky but it's not like I'll be paying a huge premium for it. Although I admit it does look kind of fun.

The Advanced Audio Master does seem pretty coolio to me.

It's still not released yet afaik.

Well it better work as it's actually designed and sold as being specifically for the MDDs. That's a big selling point for me. Hopefully I won't have to check XLR8 all the time and worry every time an OS X upgate rolls around.

A nice review of the PC version
