Hi,

I just picked up the new 20" ACD the other day, and it's amazing...!!!

My question is;

So, when to put the display to sleep, how long should it be idle before being put to sleep.
I'm thinking how best not to wear the screen out..

Better to have short idle time, and "power up" the display a lot of times. Or better to have long idle times (and then have the display turned on longer), but less "power ups"..??

Does this make any sense..??

:)

Well, the I'd say the best rule of thumb for a desktop LCD these days would be 4 minutes, maybe less if you want to.

That then leaves you time to go run and go do a quick job or answer the phone and not have to wait for it to power back on.

And don't bother with screen effects (savers).

On portable LCDs like w/ my PowerBook I have it set on 2 minutes, dims after 1.

LCDs pretty much come on instantly.

Don't worry about it.
