I'm getting ready to buy a Sony Clie (PEG-SJ20). Does anybody know if it works well with iSync? Also, is the only difference between the SJ20 & SJ30 the color LCD?

Thanks.

Well well well, I'll post....(a rare event)

I bought last week a SJ30(the colour one), after years of pondering a PDA. The last time I thought about it was when the Palm V was launched!

The SJ30 won best PDA in Mac user, it is 'they say' the 'best middle of the road solution, not a silly price, but not lacking on above average features'.

The only downside is the lack of software, ie NONE for the Mac. You've got to download and in some cases buy the lot.

Night before purchase I downloaded

1.Palm Desktop 4.0
2.Entourage Conduit

I installed the software on my Ti550, purchased the SJ30, and first go synced Entourage with the SJ30 over infra red, (USB worked first time as well, later). I was quite impressed as I was expecting to have to play around for a while.

You obviously run OSX (iSync), if you really want to sync with iSync then fair enough. But if you want it to work then I'd set yourself up with Palm Desktop 4.0 with Entourage conduit and MS Entourage.

Another differnce other than the colour screen,(and believe me, what a fantastic screen), is instead of 8mb the SJ30 has 16mb. After a night on the palm sites downloading you'll wish you had the extra, although you could always buy a memory stick later.

Hope this helps

The SJ33 is not out yet to my knowledge. It will replace the SJ30.

No, not for the SJ30. (Have had one for several months now.)

The missing sync is only really worth getting if you;

a) want to use your SJ30 as an MP3 player, for this you would have to buy the 'special' Sony addon headphones, as there is no standard audio plug, and add a sizable memory stick.

b) want to use your SJ30 for importing showing your photos through iPhoto into the Sony Clie 'Photostand' software, a basic slidshow app.

If you want to do this then buy it, otherwise it isn't worth bothering with, you can add documents via the Palm Desktop 4.0 software for free, and use other 3rd party software for displaying your photos.

On that note, has anyone got the Missing Sync? I've bought a Clie NR70 that's due to come soon and having tried one before on my iBook know that for some weird reason it isn't normally picked up by Palm Desktop - I actually need the Missing Sync :-(

Has anyone any experience with it?

True. But it's a full on PDA with a digital camera for $650. Pricey but prolly worth it IMNSHO.

Well, I went out and bought an SJ20 on Tuesday night. Works (pretty much) flawlessly with iSync and iCal. The display is wonderful . . much better than that of my original Visor. Too bad you can't have multiple calendars in the Palm datebook like you can in iCal.
