I just got an Epson 2200 printer and have a few questions for those in the know. If anyone cares to take a stab at them, I would sure appreciate it!

-When switching from the photo black cartridge to the matte black one, how much ink is wasted? Is it bad to do this often?

-What's the best way to store the other cartridge when it's not installed in the printer? Will it keep or do I have to worry about it drying out?

-In OSX, what are the ideal settings to use in the print driver to get prints that most closely match what I see on my monitor? In the print dialog box, do you use color controls, colorsync or no controls?

Thanks in advance for any info!

-Very little is wasted, unlike the 7600/9600's which have long ink transports after the carts to deal with. It's basically like cleaning the heads each time. Change them often as you like.

-I put a piece of scotch tape on mine and hope for the best.

-This is a loaded question. There are two different ways of going about it. Either have Photoshop convert your images from your working space to the printer's profile, or let Epson's driver do this. The thing to avoid is a double conversion; don't make PS and the driver convert.
In the print dialog, under Color Management, select Document for Source Space. Then select your printer/paper profile in Print Space. Start with relative color and using blk point comp, to start with.
Hit Print.
In the next box, go to Color Management and select No Color Adjustment. Then make your other selections like paper type and dpi. Print.
This is my preferred method. It has PS making my color conversions and the driver doing no color work.

thanks for the info! i guess i need to play around with the color settings more. i tried setting the driver to no color adjustment and the print came out looking really red. this was with a duotone image so maybe that had something to do with it. when i set the printer drive to colorsync, the print came out looking fine...
