how can i flash a DVD with PC firmware?

i have region-free firmware for a DVD drive, but how can i flash the drive, short of using a PC? (i have one .bat, one .exe, and one .hex file.)

You can't. You need something to run the exe file to update the firmware of the drive. you <i>might</i> be able to use Virtual PC, but I doubt it. I don't know how far VPC is allowed to talk to the hardware.

usually the way this works is the exe sends the hex to the drive using the info in the .bat file.

The only utility on the mac side that I know of that does this is Apple's, their drive firmware utility. You maybe able to hack this, but it seems risky to me. The OS 9 version people have already hacked to do this very thing, you may want to poke around here:
