I am waiting for a new iPod and I only expect larger HDs and more or less same prices, like 10, 20 and 40. Anything else is a bonus. Anyone thinking like me?
Also, in the poll I am implying that next update won't be the Big one, though I hope it will!

I personally think that if I am carrying 5/10/20/40/60 Gig of portable storage, it should serve as a place to store my digital pics. I will not buy a HD-based mp3 player until I find one that does (and that I like). If not ipod, other units are due this year that will.
Not what everyone need, but its what I need. Yes I could buy more compact flash, but why pay $100 for 512M of that when I am carrying around Gs of storage on the ipod (or whatever).
Even adding a USB 2 port would help, then I could at least go to an internet cafe (usually PCs w/o Firewire), and dump the picture from camera->PC->ipod. That would be better than nothing.

I guess you could say I'm waiting for the next iPod-like device. I can store my pics now, but being able to display them as well would be nice, along with my music.

I already have an iPod (Xmas - 02) So I just hope they increase the sizes and do a software update.
I think Apple would be making a mistake if they no longer sold a 5Gb iPod. Ah well.

Am I the ONLY one not buying an iPod at all!? I would buy one if I could afford it - you guys must all be rich.

Most of us aren't rich, we're just foolish I could've paid off my school debt a bit earlier if I didn't get my iPod in Nov. 2001. But I love my iPod to death. It is nearly always with me.
I like the iPod as a music device. If functionality is added, I'd like to see an attachment that brings it into the TiVo realm. (Or maybe a device that it can plug into.) I don't think it should move into the visual media realm. It shouldn't be a portable movie player, it shouldn't be a portable photo album. As a way to carry your iPhoto library, good. As a way to view your iPhoto library, It inherently fails. The Screen needs to be much bigger and color = Cost at the size of the unit, the controls, and the price...
I say keep the iPod for music and make a digital photo frame that gets pictures from your Mac over Bluetooth.

Yes, waiting. I decided that I was going to get one a while ago when my discman started acting weird. I really want one, but I'll kick myself if I buy now and miss an updated model.
Just looked at the apple store, looks like they took down the message about the 5 gig being out of stock because of holiday demand. It's still listed, but there's no way to add it to the cart (that I can see).

i really dont see a point in having an ipod that views pictures, but thats just me. what i'd like is for it to have an am/fm radio tuner with a recorder.

I don't see a point in am/fm...
just kidding.
If the iPod HD could simply be used to STORE the pics, I'd be very happy. (without the need to use a computer as the intermediary)... ie the ipod does the download from the camera memory (assuming firewire devices on both sides)

I agree with the above sentiment completely. I would like to see a 5 GB model that includes the remote and case for the same price. Perhaps I am asking for too much?
