I've been ordering many 'photo albums' from apple's iphoto. I notice that many of the pictures are not as sharp as i would have liked. Being that some are crystal and other are blurred; i believe that this is the camera's fault and not Apple's.

I have a Canon S40
A great camera and the pictures look great on my computers screen. I'm thinking that i have to get something better. What do you recommend? Have you ordered? How are your prints?

Tiffany, I don't know what your budget for a digicam is, but check out this website, great reviews and info. The guy who runs the site is a Mac guy too. HTH

The S40 is a great camera. There is no reason to switch, in my opinion -- just keep an eye on the shutter speed and keep it at 1/60th or higher when zoomed out, and 1/125 or higher when zoomed in and you'll have sharp pictures. The other problem you might be having is that in the auto and P modes, the camera tends to choose the most open aperture possible, so if you focus inadvertently on the wrong point then everything else will appear fuzzy since the depth of field is lessened by the open aperture.

I have a S30, and am quite satisfied with it. To tell the truth, I _am_ getting a new camera soon, but not because of any inherent shortcomings with the camera: instead, I am moving to a full-on digital SLR (which is a very expensive proposition and not one for the casual point 'n shoot photographer).

I have ordered an album from Apple before, and I found the quality to be quite good. If you make sure to only choose sharp and in-focus shots for inclusion in the album, you will be rewarded with good results.

A small selection of what the S30 is capable of, at least in my clumsy hands (for more, check my site's main page): a few of my favorite pics.

I agree. The S40 rocks. I'm sure you could find other cameras that do some things better, but sharpness probably won't improve with a new/different one. You'd be better off figuring out how to take sharper pics with the S40. As mentioned, keep an eye on the shutter speed and concentrate on keeping the camera steady until it finishes the exposure. Try using the flash more. Maybe a higher ISO rating, I believe the S40 is pretty good about noise.
If you still can't get sharp images, put the camera on a table (or tripod if you have one) and take some pics like that. This should eliminate camera movement. If they're still bad, maybe your camera needs servicing.

I don't own the camera, but look for a setting for shutter priority. This allows you to set the shutter manually and forces the aperture to compensate.

i orderd and apple iphoto book of my Project graduation, I took my cannon S330 along with my extra battery, i took over 200 shots that night, including movies. i basicly filled up my 256 mb cf card. The next day, when i woke up, i sorted through the pics and chose the best ones. I narrowed it down to something like 80 pics and set up the book real nice, with about 3 pics per page and ordered it.

It was about 20 pages and cost me somthing like 80 bucks but i have no complaints with the picture quality. some of them were a little fuzzy but that was due to the low light and my weak flash.

over all i havn't had any complaints with my camera and the prints i can take with it.

linkage nice big pic

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!
