Hello ...

In the past, I've used a UMAX Astra 1220U scanner with OmniPage Pro X under OS X (on a 600 MHz iMac) with no problems. I've had to scan using Classic, but I've found the process relatively straightforward.

However, I recently tried to do some scans, only to get text that is not only rotated 90 degrees out of proper orientation, but also _reversed_ (which wreaks havoc on the ol' optical character recognizer).

I _think_ that my previous (and good) experiences included Jaguar, but it was a while ago since I used the scanner. The reverse-text scans were made with 10.2.3.

I've tried a variety of settings to rectify the problem, to no avail. (Unfortunately, although OPPX includes options for rotating scanned images, it doesn't include any for flipping. I suppose I could go through a separate graphic program, but that's too much of a diversion of my workflow.)

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks and regards,

DayLateDon

Hello ...

Correction: The scanner model is 2100U.

I restarted the iMac into OS 9(.2.2), and that didn't help. Interestingly, the UMAX VistaScan software that came with the printer scans the images in the proper orientation. So, it's just something in the OmniPage software that's getting things reversed.
