I am in the market for more storage (primarily for DV video/imovies) and already have 2 drives in my G4. Possible choices are (1) e-bay my 40G internal drive and buy the largest internal that I can or (2) buy a large external firewire drive and keep both internals (40 and 80 GB). One other thing to metion is that I would like to undo a partition and so an external drive would be useful there.

I need advice on what is the better route to take and if external seems the way to go, I need some info on external drives in general and what are the best ones available.

I don't know anything about the relative merits of internal vs. external for DV, but two good sources of info about drives are:

For DV, I would definitely prefer internal drives. Every Firewire external has the potential to act flakey and fail to mount at some point in its lifetime.
