Doesn't Apple own part of Smart Disk?

Its a shame it doesn't have Firewire. If the MP3 player was good, I'd have been very interested.

... being released just after I get back from my 3 week trip (of course)... ah well that figures. Really wanted something to dump my pics into while travelling. Hopefully Apple will get its head out of the sand about these features sooner than later.

Device looks reasonably slick to me.

Very nice!

Although, a stop gap solution for Apple might be a Firewire card reader that plugs into the iPod. You can then dump using the iPod as a controller, and wipe the card for future use. I would wager that this would cost considerably less than the device shown above, although it would fit different needs.

Maybe in the next iPod update?

I think Apple is working on a little thing similar to this, if not, it sure would be cool.

Stop-gap.. hell that's all I've been asking for. I'm be happy a a pig in #%@% if they'd just take that very simple step.

Even if they don't, the linux on iPod looks like a way to get it eventually.

Plug in card, dump pics, start taking more pics. Don't need to view, rotate em, nothing, just want to save spending $100-$200 on spare CF cards.
