to use with an iMac 333 and OS 9.2.2, and didn't want to spend more than $150 to $180, what would you get? USB inkjet, of course...
Thanks,
Ken

Canon i850... The best deal on a color printer out there these days IMO.
Tho I'm not sure that it works with 9.2.2, I'd assume it does.

I have a Hewlett Packard model and am happy with it. Mine is an 842c - I'm not sure what the current model equivalent is.

I've been really happy with my Epson Stylus Color 760. I realize this model isn't for sale anymore, but I'd image current Epson models are still really good. Before this I had a Canon BJC 210, and what a piece it was. Paper was always coming through 2 at a time, lots of trouble printing, etc. Ick. That just left a bad Canon tast in my mouth.

Take a good look at the HP Deskjet 5550. It will set you back about $150. But it is rated at 17 pages per minute black and 12 in color. Of course this is in draft mode. In addition the 5550 also does a beautiful job at printing photo's. All you have to do is replace the black cartridge (56) with the photo cartridge (58) and you will produce photo's at 4800 X 1200 dpi on photo paper using a 6 color inking process.

It's important to realize that pretty much any sub-$200 color printer falls squarely into the "disposable" category nowadays. I've had experiences like that with my last two Epson printers, a stylus 640 and a stylus 740. No problems with my Canon i850 so far, and it prints much faster, quieter, and higher quality than those printers did. Another advantage the Canon has over those Epson printers (not sure about the new ones) is that the color cartridges can all be replaced separately, sparing you from having to spend $40 to replace one gigantic color tank every time one color runs out.
