For the last year I have been using a M$ wireless intelimouse explorer, and the year before that the standard Apple Pro Mouse. Recently my M$ mouse has been giving me problems, so I need some suggestions on what new mouse to get. my requirements are optical , 2-button with a scroll wheel, and NOT wireless (I'm tired of replacing the batteries in it every two weeks). Other than that i would like some good suggestions from my fellow mac people.

I am interested in this one:
http://macmice.com/
But I am unsure of the tilting click... a user review of it might help me decide to go for it.

I'm looking forward to some good recomendations.

thanks

don't have the one you mentioned but i think it was designed by the same guys that did the pro mouse, and the clicking movement is just like the pro mouse.

Other then that i have to say that i love my Logitech wireless mouseman pro, i know you said you don't want to replace batteries every month, but the new, what is it 700X somthing or other, had a basesation that will charge the rechargeable battery. So over night, just set it in and your all good.

Or just pick up the wired version of the one i have, its only 30 bucks max. I got one for my sister last year and she loves it on her laptop, much better then the touch pad.

i guess i should have mentioned this is for a laptop. so a wacom or a wireless with a base station dont work well for me.

thanks for the suggestions anyway...

i might go for the non-wireless kinsington pro, or the macmouse.... still looking for good suggestions.

First off, don't be deceived. That "MacMice" is selling mice that have been around for 2 years and can be found here for *much* less: CLICK

Personally, I feel the most comfortable and most efficient/flexible mouse on the market today is the Logitech MX500 (or MX700 for wireless users). It's got 8 programmable buttons that are perfectly placed and it's extremely comfortable. Get it cheapest at www.techsavings.com

I have the Kensington optical and I like it. The MouseWorks software expands the functionality plus Kensington stands behind their products. I had no trouble getting a warranty replacement for a mouse which keeled over.

I use the Kensington for travel. The retractable cord is nice and helps reduce the clutter...

My new personal favourite is the Logitech MX-300. Not a mini mouse, but small enough to tuck into an accessory pouch if necessary. It tracks very well, and is a great deal. The 'application switch' button is nice. I've mapped it to scroll through my open applications (like Alt-Tab).

I bought a Logitech Dual Optical for my TiBook. I really hate this mouse. I could not get used to it at all. You have to pick it up from the table so far. Hurt my wrist so much I gave it away.

I have been using the Logitech MouseMan Traveler for 3 weeks now. I am in love. I must say this is the best mouse I have ever used. The shape is weird, but it fits the hand very nicely. The mouse is used like I like to use it, with your wrist on the table, really takes allot of strain off your hand.

The silver one matches PERFECTLY with the TiBook. If it had an Apple logo on it, you would never know.

Before I tried this mouse, I thought the apple hockey puck mouse was the most comfortable. Now, I am going to replace my hockey puck mouse with a mouseman traveler.

May I ask how you did this? Using USB overdrive it does not work becasue you need to hold down the command key and click. would love to use the middle button to scroll through applications.

Thanks.

I use the Logitech Control Center software that is included with the mouse, or available on the web. It adds a new item to the System Preferences that allows you to configure any Logitech device that is connected. It's an excellent piece of sofware, IMHO.

I believe the default option for the button is scroll through open apps. If you have the MX-500, which has two buttons, you could map one to scroll L to R, and the other R to L. Just a thought.

You can map any key combination, including any or all function keys. I have Command-Option-H for my scroll button to 'hide other apps'.

As you can probably tell, I'm quite happy with the mouse and the software.

Oh, great thanks. Why didnt I just install the logitech software in the first place?

The only problem I have is that Alt-Tab does not work like I want it to. If you just hit alt tab it will scroll to the last app you where on and not the one to your right... SUCKS when you use a mouse because you either have to click very fast or keep the button depressed for it to scroll.

I wonder if anyone has used one of these new MS Blutooth mice with a Mac. Comes with a Bluetooth adapter.

Looks pretty stylish me thinks.

Well this is the one i've gone with

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?pa...p;languageid=1

its small, accurate, needs no batteries, and matches my tibook perfectly. so far its working great...its taking a little while to get used to it as my old M$ mouse is gigantic compared to it.

but so far so good.

My Alt-Tab works the same way as yours, but the mouse just scrolls L-R when the app-switch button is pressed. It's not exactly an Alt-Tab, as you will see when you install the software (it's called 'scroll through open applications' or something like that).

Sorry, I was mistaken in my first post.

I used to have an Apple Pro Mouse, but I got tired of the mouse cable getting stuck under the mouse so I went out and bought the Logitech MX300:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?pa...p;languageid=1

Its a reasonably priced ($19 @ Fry's and OfficeMax) two button scrolling mouse with an extra program switching button. The mouse works quite well under OS X. Logitech's Control Center lets you configure lots of additional features on the mouse.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced two button optical mouse, I recommend this one.
