I just got a Logitech Cordless Elite keyboard, and I'm having some problems with the numeric keypad. The first time I plugged it in (before installing the Logitech software and restarting) the numeric keypad worked fine, but the command and option keys were switched. After restarting, the command and options keys are as they should be, but I don't seem to be able to enter numbers using the numeric keypad. I know it's not a problem with the keyboard because it's 1) brand new, and 2) if I hold command and hit various numbers on the keypad my computer will do things (though not things that would correspond to the numbers being pushed), so it's obviously sending some signal, and when I go into keycaps and hit the numeric keypad, the right numbers flash, but nothing appears in the text box; pushing the numbers with the cursor, however, works fine. Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be wrong?

It behaves the same way with the numlock on and off. I suppose I should have mentioned that in the first post.

Oh, and I'm running 10.2.4.

Did you check all the configs in the Logitech software? I didn't look closely at the OS X Logitech software, but there may lie your problem.

Sounds to me like Num Lock

Ok, I've determined that the problem is not with the keyboard, but with my computer. I took a differetn USB keyboard, plugged it into my roommate's cube and it worked just fine. When I plugged it into my Pismo, the numeric keypad stopped working.

I've found, and solved, the problem. Apparently at some point I hit the option key 5 times which turned on the Universal Access option to change the numeric keypad into mouse keys. I just turned that option back off and I can use the keypad again. Woohoo!

That's bizarre. I'm glad you figured it out. I think a friend of mine was having the same problem some time ago.

Congrats...

So how do you like the new keyboard? I remember a week or so ago you were trying to figure out what to get.

I rather like it a lot. All the extra buttons annoyed me at first, but now I'm starting to like them. The volume wheel, in particular, is nice since it's a feature that I'm used to having on the Pismo's built in keyboard, and the play/pause button and mute buttons are also pretty usefull. My only real complaint about the keyboard is that the space bar is a little louder than I would like, but that's fairly minor and I don't really care about it. Overall, I'd say the keyboard was a very good investment.

The extra buttons are a bit wierd at first, but now when not behind my logitech, I miss them. Funny how quickly I find them useful. IN particular the Messenger, Email, and Home page ones.
