I'm trying to setup an HP scanjet 3570c to work with 10.2.3 and not having any luck. The HP site says the Jaguar drivers are still in development. Is there any kind of work arond? VueScan won't work with this model. This is my Mom's B&W G3, and my Dell-loving Dad is laughing at me.

There is a way but you cannot use the Scan Manager software. This software runs in background and is charged with tracking of the button actions on the front of your scanner. You should however be able to load the software and run it independently of the scan manager. I use the scanjet 5500 in this manner. Its not as convenient but it does work.

Thanks for the tip. However, I'm slightly confused. Should I not install the HP software? Basically I would just like to get Image Capture to work with the scanner so my mom can can import her photo prints etc. into iPhoto.

Thanks again.

You need to install the software. Once you have, you need to go into System Preferences and turn off the Scan Manager in the login items. Image capture will not work with this scanner.

OK gotcha thanks. I'm newb to scanners obviously. I actually didn't have the software installed at all beforfe, I just figured out today. It got half installed (nice POS HP!)

I suppose I'll lhave to email pester them to get up to speed with a TWAIN driver (surprised someone hasn't hacked one out themselves by this point,) and maybe a Photoshop plug-in.

Thanks agin.

update: Got the 193MB driver download (latest version) full of software that mostly doesn't work. I found Scajet app and it seems to work pretty well. Is there a way to make it send the scan info straight to iPhoto? I have to make this thing dead simple for my ma. Tia.

Probably not at this time. You will have to save the photo and then import it into iPhoto. Hopefully HP and Apple will get their act together in the not to distant future.
