Hey, I have a 17" Apple LCD monitor and I notice that when I have a black background there is a slight residue of the OSX login screen. Do LCD monitors suffer from burn in, the way old CRTs did?

If so can you have a screen saver run on the login screen?

If it's a laptop, it could be the light coming in from the clear Apple logo on the backside of the laptop.

I know what you are talking about. The Flurry screen effect is a perfect example. The screen will fade to black then the color flurries will begin to move around. The flurries will leave a slightly different hue of black that is not the same as the black the original fade to black was.

LCDs can "burn in" over time (it takes longer than a CRT, generally.) Usually if you leave the LCD off for a few days or so, it will clear itself up. At least that is what I have found.
