I've had an HP Photosmart 318 camera for over a year now and have been connecting it to my iMac (see sig for specs) for just as long with no problems. But recently in the last month or so I've plugged the camera cable into the pro keyboard (as usual) and nothing happens, but if I plug it in halfway or so iPhoto MAY come up. I have to cables and it happens with both of them, and all my other USB devices in these ports work perfectly.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be the camera getting old and worn out? I find it annoying that I have to plug everything in and out a few times just to get my pictures off my camera.

Thanks aLOT in advance.

I recommend using a usb extension cable to machine and plug & unplug your vcamera cable from it instead of using Keyboard connector, Also saves wear & tear on keyboard port.

From your description of the problem and what you did to troubleshoot it, I would say that your camera is the problem.

If you can, try the camera on another Mac.
