I'm looking to get a nice 50+ watt 3-piece speaker system. I've been looking at the JBL's or Altec Lansing, can anyone recommend something for movies and music? Thanks in advance.

Hi! A quick "Search" (just look above in the MacNN window and click that) for "speakers" will yeild tons of results that'll be most helpful to you in your quest.

But as for my personal opinion, I can't recommend the Monsoon PlanarMedia 14 2.1 Sound System enough. It's got a beautifully designed 8" ported subwoofer that booms loud & clear, 2 amazing flat-panel satelliters that handle the mids & highs wonderfully, and a seperate control pod w/ the volume, bass, and mute knobs on it, along w/ a headphone jack, and you can place that Control Pod whereever you like, so you don't hafta reach a speaker to turn them up or down. These can be had for ~$119 (cheapest on the net, trust me, I search and purchased from here...great service!) at www.techsavings.com by simply searching in their Search Box for "planarmedia 14".
