have a 12 albk so i cant really use the apple monitors, which i would love to do. any suggestions on a great alternative--looks nice, performs awesome--on a 17 or 18 inch lcd? dont want to spend a ton, but enough to not get junk.

Sharp has a 17 inch one with VGA and DVI inputs for $500 I believe. It was mentioned on Maccentral in January or February I think.

Search this forum for some detailed postings about the Samsung 172T. I used one with my 12" powerbook and it works great. Very good quality, and the silver color matches the powerbook well.

Dell 18" acutally is not that bad, consider that my company had bought them for $380.
