Hello

my epson 860 just died. Im thinking of the Canon i550 for a replacement. some mac users seem to hve liked it in a different thread.

are there generic cartridges for this model? i used to get generics for the 860 and would like to get a printer that generics exist for.

hmmm...my epson 980 just died & i got...a canon i550 (recommended by a friend).

not sure about generic cartridges, but i had a third-party cart jam in my epson last year, so...be careful.

check out macmall (or something) & SEE if such cartridges exist

(hmmm i may do the same...)

Yes there are. Canon hasn't changed its cartridges for at least two years (they have only three different systems: the regular 4 ink line (most printers, also the i550), the 6 ink systems for all photo printers, and the professional line (N1000, N2000, etc., professional ink jetters).

There are generic cartridges from a lot of companies. Although the original Canon ones are cheaper than the generics of the other companies. Generics are no problem, except for black. In my experience, generic black tends to flow into yellow (looks ugly for presentations).

My S630 has been a very reliable printer, very fast with good looking results.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
