Hi i am a new user and I am glad that I joined this full of life Mac Forums...

I have upgraded to Jaguar recently on my g4 800 iMac...I had previously installed a pirated version cause the original wasn't available-I come from a country were people think "1980" when they hear the word "Mac"- therefore i had to restore the system to get rid of that crappy version and install the proper one...I used my iPod to backup some files...The process was succesfull...Except that i didn't back up my iTunes library cause I already had the exact files on the iPod...But the problem is that i couldn't find a way to export the mp3 files from the iPod to the new library..I would appreciate your help and i am guessing it's a simple process which can only be expressed with"Duh!" but for some reason i didn't know how to do it...looking forward for help and suggestions and humiliations ...

I used iPod Util to copy back my songs from my iPod, after reinstalling my system. Prehaps there are other apps that do the same, I don't know.
I guess thats what you need.

have you got virtual PC,

When you plug in the ipod and launch VPC,
there is the ipod icon drive availiable.

NOthing is restricted in virtual PC, and all files are shown,
You can then just drag and drop all the MP3 that you have.

I know it might just be simpler using the above Utils,
but this is how i do it.

:-) Yeah, I think that you need a utility since Apple has purposely blocked transferring mp3 files from the iPod to the computer. This is of course in order to make it slighly more difficult to pirate music. Easy to get around, and probably makes them look a little better to the music companies, which can't hurt.
