I went out and bought a new 175 gb WD hdd for one of our designers g4 450 mhz. Machines. When I put the drive in, the Mac will only see 137 gbs of the drive. So after doing some digging I discovered that there is a 137 gb limit on older ATA controllers.

Can any body recomend an ATA add in card that supports the 48 bit addressing necessary to see all 175 GB? This machine is using OS 9.

The drive came with an free Promise ATA 100 to address this problem, but alas, the only drivers I can find for this one are for Windows.

Thanks!

MacMini Dual Core 2 GB RAM (Sadly running Windows Most of the time)
Numerouse Workstations running windows and Linux. Sorry don't have the specs, I don't pay much attention to them anymore. :)

i have the same card, only the RAID version (striping 2 80 Gb drives) in my G4 450. works great in 9 and X, and not that expensive.

I echo tr's suggestion. I have the same card as he (RAID version). The June 2002 Macworld has a review of various PCI RAID cards (it's available online)--even it you don't need RAID, it's a worthwhile read.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.
