I have a new Mac iPod and some of the computers at my lab have firewire ports. I was wondering if there's a way to use my iPod as a HD on a PC without formatting it and losing all my data. And once I have the files transfered from the PC to iPod is there a way to get them back on my Mac?

Thanks alot in advance!

Sure. I use software called "MacDrive" for this.

Here's a link:

http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/

Note, it's not free ($40?). It's worth it for me though. Once you put files on there from the PC you just plug in the iPod to the Mac, open it (double click from finder) and voila the files are there.

I don't know whether there are freeware alternatives.
