I'm putting together a Blue and White G3 that i'm going to use mostly for watching video on. DVD, mpeg, avi/divx, quicktime and whateversnext. Its a PCI machine so theres no QExtreme, so there will be pretty much NO 3D used on the card. Now if I remember my hype correctly, the vNidia is a little faster at 3D stuff and the ATi is a bit better at 2D. So right off the bat im assuming the 7000 is my card. But I don't wanna miss anything. BTW Either way I go I'm probably buying a cheap PC card and flashing it.... Which brings up another thing, is there such thing as a PCI GeForce 3? that would probably be better then both right? I don't wanna spend too much money though. Please chime in, but only if you have real insight and knowledge please :-)

To my knowledge, and after some vehement searching, there's no GeForce 3 PCI for the Mac, unfortunately. So, of the options of the ATI 7000 of GeForce 2, I'd certainly go for the ATI 7000. In my experience I'd say it'll prove to be a better card in both 2D and 3D aspects, and should perform quite well in a B&W G3 case. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure the Radeon card offers hardware DVD decoding. Maybe the machine will be fast enough for software decoding, I don't really know.
