I'd like to get a CF adaptor PCMCIA card to leave permanetly in my powerbook for downloading photos. Would doing this cause a noticable drain on the battery?

I doubt it'd cause a huge increase in battery usage, but it will make a minor difference, just as having Bluetooth or AirPort eneabled on a PowerBook. If you disable it, however, it won't drain the battery even if it's in the slot.
