I may have made a serious mistake. I put a firewire drive on the wrong kind of AC Adapter and now that I gave it back its right one, it won't mount. It still powers up and gives the on light, but it sounds like it's just the fan that powers up, it doesn't make the usual disc access clicks. I'm not sure of the model, I got it from Tekserve custom made. I'm going to take it in tomorrow for them to look at it, but does anyone have an idea as to just how screwed I am? Any chance for data recovery?

Thanks

Try:

1. Diskwarrior
2. Remove the drive and try to mount it internally if you have a machine that can hold it
3. Diskwarrior again

Well it either sounds like 1 of 2 things happened.

1. You blew the power supply

2. You blew the hard drive's circuit board or motor

My hunch is that the disk itself is probably ok, so you should be able to get the data off of it, but you may have fried the enclosure. Of course, it's possible the whole thing is toast.

Well, took it to Tekserve, they said the enclosure was fine, the disk was fried. Data recovery would have been $800 or so. I didn't need what was on it that bad, it's all replacable. Fortunately, it was still under warranty. Thanks anyway, guys.
