Okay, I have a really simple question. My friend has a older G4 Tower and he wants to put a "Superdrive" in.

Now the question that I have is what are my options? Is there any brand you guys particularily recommend?

And is the 4.7GB the only format out right now? I thought there was a 6.xGB too?

Well it depends if your friend wants to use iDVD? If that's the case then your only choice is to go with a Pioneer drive.
I saw this on Dealmac today:

"ESBuy.com offers its ESBuy 4x DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD-R EIDE drive (which uses the Pioneer DVR-105 mechanism) with Roxio's Toast Lite and two pieces of media for $241 with free shipping."

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!
