I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the different bluetooth adapters. I've read somewhere that some have a range of 30 ft while others have a range of 100 ft. If people could post their experiences with different adapters and how much they paid, it would be a great help for determining which one I should buy. Thanks
Tom

Yep, you are correct, there are "type 1" and "type 2" bluetooth adapters that have different ranges. I don't remember which "type" is the longer range, but Belkin sells one of each and I own both.
I find the range on the 100m one (which is much bigger and has an external antenna) to be closer to 50-75 ft when you are using a peripheral. Probably if your goal was to connect 2 computers that both had the 100m adapters the range would be much greater. I use this one on my Powermac at home.
As for the 30m one, it is much smaller and I usually can get about 30ft away with a peripheral (like a phone.) Until I got my 17" I used to carry this one around with my Ti 867.
All the dongles available seem to have the same guts in them, so any brand will work on the Mac. I bought the Belkins at Compusa, the shorter range one was $40 and the longer range one was $50 IIRC.
Hope this helps.

I just tested it and I was able to use Sony Ericsson Clicker reliably from about 15 ft. After that it was pretty spotty whether it would work or not.

Smalldog has both types. You can read about each type there or go to each manufacturer's website. The ioGear one is a Class 1 (330ft range) w/o an extra antenna.
