Ok well since I started my own computer consulting business, I have been rather busy. I need a PDA to help keep all my info straight.
I have been doing some research and I am between a Sony PEG-SJ20 and a Palm Vx Cresenda.
The SJ20 has more memory and a faster proscessor but is that going to mean less time between recharging?
Also what about compatability between the PDA and my Pismo 400 running 10.2.5? I use Entourage for my email and appointments.
Thanks for the help
Tony

To use the Sony on a Mac, you're going to have to buy Missing Sync. Add that to the price before you make your decision.
I've got the Clie SL10 and it's fine. I honestly don't use it for anything but calender, todo's and contacts, and it does that just fine. The screen is a little hard to read in dim lighting, but it does have a back light. The high res screen isn't really that useful for basic operations. The microthin font they use is unreadable, so I have to bump it up to large type and bold, which defeats the purpose.
Look around at other options. Have you considered the Zire? Or a Treo? Do your homework. There are lots of options, even within the realm of PalmOS products.

Agreed. If you are just looking to get organized, I'd recommend a Zire, or one of the mSeries from Palm. The mSeries also come with a flip up screen protector, at least the m130 does. I'd also stay away from color unless you plan to play games, or just have to have it. The rechargeable one's are great, but Color and the faster processors eat the benefits of that up quickly.

I had the m505 color Palm, which was great. Now they have the new m515 with 16 MB memory and a much better/brighter screen. If you have ~$250, I would get the m515. It has great battery life, photos look perfect on it, and the style is very nice as well. Comes with a leather-like screen protector as well. And, it does not require any additional software like the Clie's do from Sony.

Incorrect.
You DO NOT need The Missing Sync with the SJ series - I have the SJ30. The SJ's are one of several Clie's that will synch perfectly with Entourage using Microsoft Handheld Synchronization for Entourage X.

Interesting. I didn't know that the Entourage conduit could handle this. That's great, if you're into Entourage. I'm using Apple Mail, though I suppose Entourage is much better. I've never used it. Maybe I should check it out (I have MS Office, I've just never tried Entourage).

for whatever reason, any sony clie that has an MP3 player built in wont sync with a mac but all other models will.
you cant mount the memory stick though, you need the missing sync for that.
palminfocenter.com showed a "leaked" picture of a new color zire that looks pretty nice. might be worth waiting for.

Agreed - forgot that some of the SJ's now have MP3 players!

I went to a local store last night (which shall remain nameless) and played with all of the pda's they have in stock. I have decided on the Sony SJ seriers. Now I am between the SJ20 and SJ22. The only difference is the SJ22 has a color screen and it costs $50 more.
Does anyone know of any other noticeable differences, like battery life?
Thanks for helping out.
Tony

Color screen really makes a HUGE difference. If you can recharge your batteries before you go to bed, the SJ22 won't be a problem.

CLIEs have several advantages over Palms, including better screens and more RAM for about the same price. The only disadvantage I can think of is that you have to buy The Missing Sync. If I were buying a new mid-level PDA, I would be likely to choose a CLIE.

After getting conflicting reports from multiple sources, I decided to ask Sony. This is their reply.
Thank you for your interest in Sony's CLIE handhelds.
The average battery life for the PEG-SJ20 and the PEG-SJ22 is 15 days. The color screen of the PEG-SJ22 does not effect the battery life for this CLIE. Therefore, I suggest that you place an order for the PEG-SJ22 at our site.
So now is this some company propaganda?

15 days means used for 15 or 30 minutes a day for 15 days, not 15 days straight.

That is obvious. I was just astonished that they say color doesn't make a difference.

I bought a refurbished Visor Edge. It's great for Calendars, To Dos, and Contacts. I wouldn't expect much more out of it, but for those things, it's great. The Zire's screen is very crisp, but beware, there is no backlight!

My wife still uses a Palm Vx, as would I had I not dropped/broken it. It's totally suitable as a PDA. If I were to buy a new one now, I would probably get a Tungsten T. It's a bit more money, but a lot more power, better screen, bluetooth, etc, and should last years, as the Vx has lasted.
