I have a 1999 iMac SE running 9.2.2.

I want to purchase a CD burner. It will be used almost exclusively to burn music CD's that will be played on boom boxes, CD changers, etc.

1. Any suggestions on CD burner makes and models? I would like to keep the price down to around $100.

2. How do I get a copy of iTunes that will operate with 9.2.2?

Thanks.

iTunes for OS 9.

Not hard to find. Apple's downloads are under the support area of their web site.

In your situation, the burner I'd choose is the LaCiE D2 external USB CD-RW drive, which can be found cheapest right here at buy.com: Cick HERE

That drive is fully compatible w/ OS 9, works w/ USB 2.0 *AND* USB 1.1 (which is what is on your Mac) and will burn everything you need it to! Good luck!

Wouldn't a FireWire burner make more sense?

He's right. Get a Firewire CDr

It has to be an iMac DV SE if it was made in 99.
The iMac SE was made two years later.

XLR8YOURMAC has a wonderful, searchable database where you can read reviews by people who own the drive. Just select the drive type and connection interface -- and any other restricting criteria you like and you have more reviews than you can shake a stick at.

Sorry fellas, I wasn't aware his computer had FireWire...granted, a FireWire drive will run him farther away from his price range.
