@ the local Staples noticed this new printer-scanner-copier = " hp psc 1210 " = it's the most compact [read smallest] 3-in-1 unit available today, but is it any good ? ? ? ?

I've been disappointed with HP products -have you looked at at the Epson CX5200?

Hmm...I have also been looking at this all in one printer because it is cheap. Anyone have any experiences or any other recommendations for the same price range and perhaps size? Thanks.

Had this printer for a while now...
Works great! Works as expected for my needs. Now, I only print the ocassional report (text only) and a few color graphics and it does it with decent speeds and quality. I have to comment that the ink lasts a long time compared to my old Epson 740i. I used it for one quarter and have yet to purchase ink for it while my Epson would require 1 cartridge change.
Also, it requires little warmup time as my old Epson would take forver to warm up (as all Epsons seem to do).
The copying feature works great also and is generally decent speeds.
The scanning is ok, but it could be faster. Also, the printer makes a weird sound when scanning, but it works.
I don't really use the software except to scan, but I can tell, it is a cheap port of somehting, but ok just for scanning. OS X.3 has built in drivers for this thing so I use that instead (printing only). Also, X.3 has a feature in its printing option to so I can finally print in just black and white (the HP drivers limit you to color and black and not just black).
Overall, highly recommended and just $99 for such a cute, compact printer for the ocassional printing job.

Stay away from HP!!!
They don't like to support their products for more than two years (just look at the laser printer I bought only 2 years ago, HP is refusing to make drivers for it to work with 10.2 and up).
As well, since their merger with Compaq their quality has gone straight downhill. Just take a look at their colour laser printers some time (low end). They are still good for black and white, but colour is not so good.
There inkjets and other products are still decent, but from my experience they don't support their products very well, and their quality is falling faster than the Iraq deck of cards.

So, Image Capture does not see your HP as scanner, right?
