Has anyone else had a problem with the 2010 not syncing with hooked up to a 2010? I've hooked up other DVI LCD's to the PB, with no problem, but when I hook up the PB17, the image cycles back and forth between the 2010 and the built-in screen. It never stops. Anyone else? Formac is claiming it's a PB problem, and they will not fix/exchange.

What version of Mac OS X are you using? If it's 10.2.4, try updating to 10.2.5.

It could be an OS problem, as if it won't recognize certain displays; however, this doesn't make much sense considering For"Mac" displays are made to work on Macs.

I'd give AppleCare a call and explain your problem, and if they deem the display to be the problem and not your PowerBook, get a call reference # and your reps. name so you can call Formac back and have some solid ground to stand on. Formac has always had sub-par customer service, and so that may be an issue here as well.

It is, however, possible in the worst case senario that your DVI-out on your PB is faulty. Do you have any other displays you can try out to see if they have the same problem?

Best of luck man.

Hey, thanks for the input. I'm running 10.2.5, and I'm currently viewing a VX900 viewsonic using DVI. I've also tested another DVI LCD, with great success. That's a good suggestion to go through AppleCare. I own a couple of Formac products, and up until now, have been vocal about giving them another look, as I've had good fortune with their products, and support.

This however, seems to be in keeping with many of the complaints I've heard. I'm really hoping someone else out there is driving a 2010 with a PB17.
