I'm pretty sure the windows version and the mac version are compatible, however you can only use your iPod with one computer at the time, you can't sync with your iBook and your imac for example and you can't get songs of your iPod on to your PC. There are some apps that will allow you to get your songs of your iPod for MacOSX but I'm not so sure if there are any for windows.. I bought the Mac version but later got MusicMatch for free from my dealer ( for my brother ).
