...and new ones are released Monday, 4/28, would my order be upgraded to the latest model? The reason I'm asking is because I just sold my 15" Tibook 1Ghz, and I want to get my replacement 17" asap. The Apple store currently lists them as only 1-2 days for shipping, so I'm assuming they're just about in stock. I want to place an order for both the powerbook and iPod using my one-time ADC discount. I'd rather not wait until Monday, but what do you think?

I ordered my 17" powerbook 3 weeks ago with airport and ipod and got the airport last week and the powerbook just yesterday. The shipment date on the ipod was pushed back several times and now stands at OOB 5/7.

I'd say wait too. It's almost certain Apple will release the new iPods Monday but on the off chance they don't, you'll be screwed. Just 3 days, hang in there, I've been waiting since December, 3 more days will be frustrating but bearable. LOL

Why is everyone so certain the new Ipods will be released on Monday?

Ummm... because Apple has scheduled a press event for Monday the 28th and they've strongly alluded it's related to their Music service?

You'll most likely be getting the next version of the iPod then.

Yes, Apple does upgrade people's orders if new models come out right after the order is placed. When all of a sudden orders that originally had maybe a 1 to 3 day ship date get changed to 2 to 3 weeks, its a sign something new is going to come out. I've seen this happen many times, people expecting one thing get pleasently surprised when they get a newer model at the same price of their original order.

They HAVE to. LOL There are literally none out there. Check Small Dog, all their iPods are refurbished ones, check MacMall/Clubmac, all iPods are listed as Please Call instead of a number in stock. I checked my local target stores when they dropped the iPods, one had 1 10 gig and the other hadn't had any for 2 months.

Apple doesn't have to put them out Monday of course, but it's in their best interests if Steve wants more money.
